Penreach Annual Report 2016

Penreach wants to impact positively on the lives of 8.9 million people,
which currently roughly the number of unemployed people in South Africa.

According to a recent Policy Brief by Research on Socioeconomic Policy (RESEP) – Learning to Read and Reading to Learn, 58% of Grade 4 learners in South Africa cannot read for meaning, while 29% are considered illiterate.
If there is perhaps something that should keep us awake, as a nation, this is it. The effects of this crisis will continue to be felt for decades to come. The poor feel its impact and destruction most deeply. It is a crisis that continues to perpetuate inequality and poverty.
Despite this, we continue to be inspired by the valiant efforts of our partners, the Department of Education and the Department of Social Development, our implementing partners and funders without whose support our work is not possible.
I invite you to receive a glimpse of our humble efforts to contribute to education excellence for one and South Africans.

Andile Ncontsa  (CEO Penreach)
